NSCDC intercept 33,000 liters of adulterated diesel The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, said it has seized a truckload of suspected adulterated diesel containing 33,000 litres. The State Commandant of the Corps, Mr Danjuma Elisha, who disclosed this on Thursday in Calabar, said that one suspect was arrested in connection with the incident. Elisha explained that the truck was impounded on Tuesday at the ‘Technical Junction’ in Calabar. “The suspect and the product were arrested for not having the valid papers to operate in the oil sector and at the same time, the product itself is suspected to be adulterated Automotive Gas Oil. “This kind of act is against our laws and regulations; this is an economic sabotage. DETAILS OF OPERATION POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION (OPI) EXPLAINED BY BURATAI The Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai on Thursday said that the Operation Positive Identification (OPI) would not hinder the day-to-day activities of Nigerians. Buratai made this known while fielding questions from the House of Representatives Committee on Army in Abuja. Represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Maj.-Gen. Usman Muhammed, Buratai said that the army had submitted a detailed report on the OPI to the committee. He said that the military is involved in ‘Operation Lafia Dole’ in the North East and that are other subsidiary operations within the major operation. Aregbesola commends undercover investigation on Ikoyi prison The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has commended one of Nigeria’s foremost investigative journalists, Fisayo Soyombo and the publisher of The Cable Newspaper, Simon Kolawole for their undercover investigation at the Ikoyi Correction Center. 1,000 WORKERS WITH LONG SERVICE AWARD HONOURED BY SANWO-OLU Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday honoured 1,000 civil servants who have spent over 30 years in the employ of the state. They were honoured with the Long Service Merit award. Among those honoured by Sanwo-Olu were 17 serving permanent secretaries who have spent between 30 and 34 years in the service, the Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly and other categories of workers who have dedicated over three decades of their life in the state public service. “Ajaokuta steel plant can employ 10,000 Nigerian youths” – NMS The Nigerian Metallurgical Society (NMS) says the Ajaokuta steel company can employ more than 10,000 workers in Nigeria. Prof. Suleiman Hassan, the National President of the society, stated this in his welcoming address at the 35th Conference and Annual General Meeting, tagged: “Ilorin 2019″, on Thursday at the University of Ilorin. The theme of the conference was entitled “The Role of Metallurgical Industries in Sustainable Development Goals”. KOSOVO RAPE: TEACHER AND POLICEMAN ACCUSED IN TEENAGER CASE Kosovo prosecutors have charged six people over the alleged rape of a teenager that shocked the Balkan state. The teenager is said to have been abused by a teacher and then by a police officer over two years from 2017, when she was 16. Prosecutors opened the case following reports by an investigative website. Police said in February they had arrested a teacher, a policeman and a gynaecologist accused of performing an illegal abortion on the girl. TRCN says 45,301 teachers qualify for licenses across the federation No fewer than 45,301 teachers who wrote the October Diet of the Teachers’ Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) have qualified to register for teaching licenses. Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar, Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). NAN recalls that the examination, which was conducted in 47 centres across the country, started on Oct. 11 in states with large number of candidates and ended on Oct. 12. Ajiboye said that the results had been approved by the Governing Council of TRCN, adding that the 62,895 out of 66,354 teachers that registered participated in the examination. “The result was not bad because the average performance of those who passed the examination is 72.03 per cent, which is 45,301 candidates, while 27.97 per cent which is 17,594 candidates failed. “Going by the state

The resolution to be voted on sets out a more public phase of the process and is not a ballot on whether or not to impeach the president. The measure also sets out the rights Mr Trump’s lawyers would have. This will be the first formal test of support for the inquiry in the Democratic-controlled House. President Trump is accused of trying to pressure Ukraine into investigating unsubstantiated corruption claims against his political rival, Joe Biden, and his son who worked with Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Mr Trump denies wrongdoing and calls the impeachment inquiry a “witch hunt”.
