BAUCHI CONFIRMS FOUR LASSA FEVER CASES

Four fresh cases of Lassa Fever have been confirmed in Bauchi state while 22 others are under surveillance.
The discovery has increased the number of confirmed cases to seven in the state as against the three previous cases recorded.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, made the disclosure Friday while giving an update on the epidemic to newsmen in Bauchi.
He, however, said that no cases of death have been recorded so far following the outbreak.

NSCDC intercept 33,000 liters of adulterated diesel The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, said it has seized a truckload of suspected adulterated diesel containing 33,000 litres. The State Commandant of the Corps, Mr Danjuma Elisha, who disclosed this on Thursday in Calabar, said that one suspect was arrested in connection with the incident. Elisha explained that the truck was impounded on Tuesday at the ‘Technical Junction’ in Calabar. “The suspect and the product were arrested for not having the valid papers to operate in the oil sector and at the same time, the product itself is suspected to be adulterated Automotive Gas Oil. “This kind of act is against our laws and regulations; this is an economic sabotage. Controversy rocks Edo over Commissioner’s arrest in France Edo State Government on Monday said it could not confirm whether or not operatives of INTERPOL arrested the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Mr Osaze Osemwingie-Ero, for alleged money laundering. Ero was reportedly arrested in France since last month for having $2million. He was said to have been detained and queried by INTERPOL. Political opponents claimed the money was given to him by Governor Godwin Obaseki when he accompanied him on a foreign trip. Another source said the Commissioner was being questioned for an offence he committed seven years ago. A top government official, who pleaded anonymity, said the state government was aware of Osemwingie-Ero’s questioning by INTERPOL for an offence allegedly committed before his appointment.
