Health Center at Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State commissioned by Dynamic Women


DYNAMIC WOMEN MATERNAL/CHILD HEALTH CENTER COMMISSIONED AT OGWASHI-UKU, DELTA STATE

Dr. Nicholas Azinge, the Honourable Commissioner for health, Delta State has commissioned the Mother and Child health center at Ogwashi-Uku on this day 14th February 2017 with a charge to the management to ensure the sustainability of the facility, which according to him, has been the major challenge of most health centers. While re-assuring the people of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led Delta State Government’s commitment to providing qualitative healthcare for all Deltans, he commended the initiator for looking inwards in the area of maternal and child health to complement government efforts in this regard.
The Dynamic Women Maternal health care center, a brainchild of a Non- Governmental Organization known as Dynamic Women Charity Association with its focus on women empowerment, Women Health, and Education, Gender equality and women independence will cater for women and children health issues in the community and beyond when fully operational.
Speaking on behalf of the Initiator/Co-ordinator, Favour Awele Okolobi, the Vice President of the organization, Nkem Udegbue said the health care center is part of the organizations’ resolve in giving back to the community.

With the commissioning of the health facility, she reiterated that maternal / child mortality and morbidity which are major challenges in the community will be reduced. She stressed that the health care center had recruited 20 medical personnel thereby creating job for the people in the grassroots and would expand its scope of work in the future.

The Commissioner for health after commissioning the facility assisted in De-worming children and also took blood pressure checks on some of the guests. He was later taken round the reception, female ward, consulting room, emergency ward, pharmacy, laboratory, delivery/labour room, Treatment room, and the theatre in the health care center.
In their separate remarks, the Former Acting Governor of Delta State, HE Pastor Sam Obi and a representative of the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, Olinzele Edwin Esemezie, the Igwoba of Ogwashi-Uku, commended the Dynamic Women Charity Association for the initiative, having renovated and equipped the already dilapidated MDG health center in the community to the present state and hoped that the health center would be upgraded to a hospital by the State Government.
Among the special guests who graced the commissioning ceremony include Hon Sir Steven Asikawili, Vice Chairman, Aniocha South LGA who represented the Council Chairman, Hon Ike Nwabuokei, Secretary to the council, Supervisory councilor for health, Aniocha South LGA, Members of Ogwashi-Uku traditional council, Dr. Mrs. Oseji, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of health, Asaba, Representatives from Delta State Primary Health care Agency and other dignitaries.
